Best time to go: October to December — the temperatures are mild, the rainy season has ended, and tourism is low (avoid the first week in October however, as it’s a national holiday, and crowds will be horrendous).

Best part of the trip: Visiting the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island

Best place to stay: The Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel in Wan Chai has a beautiful view of the water and is very centrally located.

Best thing I/we packed: A cute and spacious backpack. Hong Kong is a walking city with a super efficient public transit system. There’s so much to see that you’ll be out all day and in need of a comfortable bag to carry everything.

Best meal: Head to Maxim’s Palace in City Hall for the quintessential dim sum experience.

Best drink: Whatever it is, it’s located in Lan Kwai Fong!

Best thing I/we brought homeCheap electronics accessories that I never knew I needed, but now can’t live without.

Best word to describe the trip: Energetic
